Ms. Joanne Gosselin Verkuilen formed and now heads the newly created Market & Liquidity Services Group where she focuses on elevating Wall Street presence for SMH’s small cap clients through a combination of issuer-paid research, stock trading services, and shareholder communication. Ms. Verkuilen was most recently a senior member of SMH’s Investment Banking Group where she focused on M&A and capital raising for a variety of industries. Prior to SMH Capital, Ms. Verkuilen held corporate development positions within multi-national publishing houses such as Simon & Schuster and Pearson where she was instrumental in initiating and implementing strategic policy and direction. She then began to focus on the telecommunications sector and become a key participant in multiple Chapter 11 restructurings for a variety of telecomm conglomerates, working on behalf of the creditors from a value protection standpoint.

Ms. Verkuilen began her career as an analyst at Smith Barney within the Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Ms. Verkuilen holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Ms. Kathleen Unger is a Director for SMH Market & Liquidity Services. She joined SMH Capital in June 2007 as a Marketing Manager, specializing in business development, corporate branding and event planning.

Previously, Ms. Unger was a Marketing Specialist at Pfizer in the US Oncology Department, focused on meeting planning, brand recognition and building strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders. She was also a Research Assistant to an II ranked analyst in Equity Research at UBS Warburg covering the Imaging Technology sector. She has also held positions in the Research Department at PaineWebber, as well as investor relations and public relations positions at Morgen-Walke Associates and GS Schwartz Public Relations.

Ms. Unger holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University at Albany in New York.
