A Brief Overview of the Conference
Thursday, November 8th was kicked off by Robert H. McCooey, Jr., Senior Vice President of new Listing and Capital Markets of the Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. We appreciate his participation and thank him for his perspective on how NASDAQ is helping growth companies overcome illiquidity.
Later that afternoon, for the lunch keynote, we were fortunate enough to have Neal L. Wolkoff, Chairman and CEO of the American Stock Exchange. He spoke on the expansion of alternative funding vehicles and new initiatives taking place at AMEX. He was joined by Mark Yusko, President and Chief Investment Officer of Morgan Creek Capital Management who spoke about “The Global Search for Alpha.” Both of their speeches were well attended and well received and we thank each of them for their insight.
After lunch, Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP hosted a SPAC panel that was well attended. The panel included: Douglas Ellenoff of Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP, Greg Mockenhaupt of SMH Capital and Gordon Pratt of FMG Acquisition.
Following the presentations we had a reception for all at the New York Palace Hotel, followed by Presenter-only dinners with a casino reception attended by the majority of the Presenters.
The breakfast session on November 9th featured Robert Power, Global Corporate Client Group, NYSE Euronext. We thank him for his perspective on the recent trends in global capital markets and capital raising.
The conclusion of the conference featured a Baseball Legends Roundtable with Lou Piniella, Chicago Cubs Manager, Mookie Wilson, former NY Mets All-star and Michael Kay, NY Yankees announcer. The room was overflowing as Michael Kay moderated past and present events with these renowned baseball figures. We appreciate their participation and thank them for adding a truly valuable experience to all of those attending.
